DIRECTOR, U.S. TAX AND/OR INTERNATIONAL TAX

Our client, an independent firm specializing in tax and advisory services, as well as strategic outsourcing, is seeking a Director U.S. Tax and/or International Tax to join its team based on the South Shore of Montreal.

The incumbent will actively contribute to the firm’s growth, with the possibility of advancement to a partner role.

Description

Reporting to the Founding Partner, the Director, U.S. and/or International Tax, serves as a strategic advisor to the firm’s diverse client base.

This professional will play a key role in further developing the firm’s international consulting practice and/or its integrated U.S. tax consulting and compliance services.

The incumbent will also be responsible for strengthening the team’s human capital to complement its existing resources, including the Director of International Taxation. In this capacity, they will also provide consulting, research, and quality assurance services—including in compliance—along with technical support to the team.

The Director, U.S. and/or International Tax, will also advise on international tax planning, tax treaties, foreign transaction structures, relocations, transfer pricing, and related matters. Depending on their experience, they may also participate in estate and will planning, with cross-border implications.

 

More specifically, responsibilities will include:

  • Build and maintain trusted client relationships, representing both the firm and its clients with professionalism and integrity.
  • Advise clients on complex international tax matters, including planning, reorganizations, transfer pricing, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, BEPS, and U.S. and European taxation.
  • Collaborate closely with other service lines, including audit, M&A, legal, and accounting.
  • Play an active role in developing and retaining the firm’s client base.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior tax professionals and contribute to talent development initiatives.
  • Participate in business development activities and assist in preparing service proposals.
  • Enhance the firm’s visibility by participating in conferences, publications, and professional networking events.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in taxation or specialized training in U.S. or international taxation
  • Professional designation, an asset (CPA, Lawyer, Notary, MBA, EA)

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in U.S. and/or international taxation

Skills

  • Knowledge of cross-border issues, particularly, but not limited to, those between Canada and the United States
  • Proficiency in tax compliance software and research databases (iFirm, ProSystem fx, etc.)
  • Expertise in international tax planning, transfer pricing, and cross-border compliance, or excellent knowledge of U.S. taxation (IRC, FATCA, GILTI, Subpart F, etc.)
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both spoken and written
